CustomTools includes the Hooks module. It does not contain any tools, but displays warning window to the user when he runs controversial Revit tools. Hooks are currently available in English, German, French an Slovak. You can change the language using customToolsSettings nobutton tool.
Prevent
- The notification window contains a short explanation of what the procedure may cause, a recommended alternative course of action, and a link to a wiki article on the topic.
- Continuing with the procedure that triggered the hook will create a log file with the filename of the active model.
Fix
- The date and time, tool name, and user name are written to the log. Using the dashboard Hooks, problematic user actions can be easily checked.
- The Additional Features help us to find added elements and check them.
- The report from a given function can be saved to an HTML file and sent to the user who created the erroneous elements.
- The Import Report function will show the elements to the person after clicking on the individual links, so that he or she can correct them if necessary.

Viewing and analysing hooks
You can set your own path for hook logs. These logs can be viewed and further analysed e. g. in Power BI Desktop. Power BI templates are provided with CustomTools. Shift + Click on the Dashboards tool in the CustomTools tab in Revit and folder with the templates will be opened. Copy them to your own location and set the data source path to URL where your logs are located.
